The battles are mostly retained from the original, which means simpler design and weird map/enemy design at times. It's a really well made game (great art and visuals, a solid soundtrack, good voice acting pretty much across the board, a simple but effective story and good tactical gameplay Fire Emblem is know for) but they kept the maps more of less the same as they were on the NES so most of them are really simple and a lot of them can be fairly tedious. That all said, if you're a die-hard SRPG fan or play for the battles/difficulty rather than for the RPG/story/etc., you may be disappointed. I really enjoy the equip system, lack of weapon breaking, and Mila's Turnwheel in particular (basically an undo button).

It feels like a full world with tons of world-building. What stands out is the level of polish (fully voiced with some of the best JRPG VO I've ever heard), dungeon crawling, towns, sidequests, gorgeous music, etc.
